I think the first time he would have to stop somewhat suddenly the back will meet the front.

Just so. While he appears to have given some thought (I use the term loosely) to "holding things
up," there doesn't appear to be anything holding the tailgate
down. Hit the brakes or take a slight grade, and the gate looks like it would fold up - the steel frame of the goose hitch that he's bolted on was not designed to take a "folding" load.
For far less than the insurance claim this guy will be filing (and probably denied), he could have bought an old pick-up, put good shocks on, and been worry-free. Hope nobody gets hurt. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
