True that! Given that prevailing seabreezes are SE, spin rides should be more the exception than the rule, although the weather patterns have been a little odd. A SE blow can negate the spin boats real quick.

My previous attempt was on my 6.0 (having borrowed the Smyth sails from Alec) with Chris Ford. Even downwind with no spin we were doing ok picking off the monomarans. When the wind really dropped out and went on the nose, and we ended up tacking upwind in the middle of the keelhaulers. It's great fun crossing tacks where the first time they cross you and the next time you've put them away - keeping mnd that they all were working on the belief that we could not go upwind. I can't stress how much I enjoyed that, even though it was a light air slog. We got all the monos except for the PHRF A0 boats before the wind completely died in the Choptank and nobody was going to make the time cutoff. Really cool to look back and see all those sails drop and all those motors start up. Got a ride from Valhalla and they fed us beer all the way to TAYC.
