Hi:

<br>I never sailed a Tcat with the old soft rig, but a couple of years ago, I wrote a response to someone describing how to tune a soft rig and the idea behind it. You can find it at
www.sailcrac.com. There are still some folks alive who actively sailed the old soft rig Tcats in anger. Jay Glaser is one of them. Call him at 949 675 6970. He can prolly help. One bad thing for you is that the old soft rig masts won't work with, and are not nearly strong enough for use with prebent sails. So anything that you buy new will not work correctly. I broke a Tornado mast by turtling in Boston Harbor way back in 1990. I was offered an old soft rig mast by one of the nice locals so that we could finish the regatta. Our speed sucked because our sails were designed for use on a prebent mast. A couple of weeks later the mast failed in rather spectacular fashion, with then girlfriend (now darling ace crew wife Casey) on the wire for the first time in her life.
