It would be nice to see a good group of beachcats (and other multihulls) showing for this very fun race. It's the 50th anniversary of the DI race, it should be one helluva party.

Ahoy Sailors,

Update on plans for the 2008 Dauphin Island race......Three parties interrupted by two sail races? We hope you are already planning to be here.

Some points to remember:

1) Buffet dinner and breakfast for Sat. and Sun. on the island. $10.50 or so each.

2) Special rates at the Holiday Inn Express for those who come early and want a night or two ashore.

3) Silver trophies (plated, true, but they ain't plastic bowling trophies) for the 50th.

4) www.dirace.com as a common contact for information and questions. Chart, history, photos and more.

5) Boiled shrimp, potatoes, corn, etc. at the Skippers Meeting Fri. night.

6) NOR, Sailing Instructions, registration forms will all be complete on the web for download by 1Feb08.

7) Band and parties at FYC, DI site and back at FYC on Sun.

8) Return race from the island to somewhere near the West mark on Sun. No charge to enter and trophies awarded.

9) Art prints, t-shirts, woven shirts, coffee mugs, Tevis Tumblers for sale soon on the web, pick up on Fri. night. Freebies......Mount Gay hats commemorating the 50th, huggies and, I hope (work in progress), plastic cups......all for the astounding price of....you guessed it.....$0.00 as long as they last.

10) Signed and numbered prints for sale of the special art done for the 50th by noted artist BSumrall!!!

11) Master Card and Visa accepted by FYC as a service to all.

12) Warm-Up race on Sun. April 20, 2008.
