Any chance you could take a picture of the forward attachment of your "makeshift righting pole" - I'm rigging one up and looking for ideas. (sorry for the hijack!)
actually still working on that, currently i've just drilled the old alloy 5.2 tramp bar and tied it to the dolphin striker
but at the end of the season the plan is to take apart the dolphin striker and put another nut below the existing one
with a drilled, thick, 3inch long alloy plate between them
that should give me something to attach the forward end of the righting pole to
