I'm curious, why? I see from the Grafham open NOR for example that we will have 4 starts for the 'fast' cats:

- singlehanded handicap: I'm guessing A class, Shadow, F16 solo...
- F18
- other handicap:Anything quick with two hulls and more than one crew, I guess an Extreme 40 would qualify (What's the SCHRS for one of those BTW?).
- Spitfire

With such a start solo and duo F16 will not be on the same start either (a non issue so far as there is not duo boat showing interest yet but it would be a shame if we have a duo F16 lost on a separate start).

I don't know anything about race management, so feel free to put me back into my place but some suggestions could be made:

- starting the F16 with the F18, with 3 scores: F18, F16 and real time, just ignore handicap. The handicaps are 'close enough'.
- merge the two handicap fleets. I guess it all depends on numbers,

In my uninformed opinion the less starts the better: you don't wait forever behind the line for the 3 other starts to go, you measure yourself against different boats, and nothing is funnier than a crowded start line...

There are a number of reasons....

1, The F18's have a worlds qualifier at Grafham, thus they require a start of their own. They do not want to sail handicap or have other classes on their start line.

2, Grafham runs (with the generous sponsorship of Cook's of Bedford), a single handed championship, as you state A Class, Shadow, F16 solo, Unicorn etc...

3, As for merging the classes, we HOPE for around 100 boats on 4 starts; 15-20 F18's; 15-20 Spitfires, 15-20 fast handicap and perhaps 40-60 single handers. Combining those into fleets might make things a little too interesting on the start line if it's windy; Afterall Grafham is not that big (for those that don't know, 1.5 miles at it's widest and 3 miles long; and we only have 1/2 the lake for the fast fleet as there are 100 cats at the other end too!!!!!).

4, The Spits also have this as a TT event and so want their own start, they get one as we expect more Spits than Hurricanes.

5, we have a handicap fleet to pick up all the rest; this will hopefully include 10-15 Hurricane 5.9's a couple of TOrnado's, maybe a couple of Nacra's of various bread and the odd faster Hobie.
