I just did this on my beach wheels.

I bought an outdoor mat that has rubber on one side and heavy traffic carpet on the other side.

I tore the old pieces off and used those for a guide when I cut the new carpet. I cut the new carpet just slightly bigger than the old by about a 1/2 inch all around.

I sanded the cradles to get the loose stuff off with like 60 grit. Then I painted the carpet and the cradle with rubber cement. Paint stores sell it in big quart or gallon cans and it lasts a long time. Then I wait about 10 minutes. When you put it together you want to only do it once. So line it up good.

The edges don't hold down perfect but it works great. I don't know if I'll ever have to replace the carpet again this stuff is so good.
