I don't see a need to reply to that thread, really. I'm all for alternatives, though I doubt there are two people on all of SA that have the stones to get something new off the ground. I have had countless run-ins with US SAILING and my enthusiasm has waxed and waned many times over, but the clean-slate option hasn't ever really been viable since we struggle to have enough volunteers to administer even our small discipline of the sport. Ask Rick - NAMSA suffers from the same thing.

Don't get me wrong - I am extremely grateful to the people that made the meeting in St. Pete last Saturday while I was wrapping up F18s. There were even two Area representatives there. I'll start a new thread when the minutes are ready for everyone to look over and we'll have a thread to talk over some things that came up. I think, though, that if you talk with someone from the meeting you'll hear that we're in a little trouble - both our championships have faltered and there are multiple Areas where the Reps have stepped down without replacement, which means there are sailors without a voice in the Council and parts of the country where there will probably not be a qualifier run for the Alter Cup.

Anyway, the poll seems to indicate to me that there is someone who sees an opportunity to make a buck - three of the five questions are about money and marketing. Who knows? Maybe they'll fix everything, right?

After watching Lionel Messi play, I realize I need to sail harder.
