We had 12 boats at the BSC Cat Caper last weekend. 6 spin and 6 non-spin. The spin fleet consisted of 3 F16s (1 2-up, 2 1-up), 2 I20s and 1 F17. Saturday was a nice day with the double handed boats double trapped and the singlehanders all working pretty hard. The breeze velocity fluctuated a lot over the race course, so looking for the shifts was very important. 5 races were held Saturday afternoon. A nice dinner and social time followed Sat night. Sunday was very light and holes appeared all over the race course. Two races were held. Luck was certainly involved on this day.
Oley/Joanna (F16) took 1st, Jim Leonard (F17) second, Mark Smith/Karen Ann Xavier (I20) third, Jody Abrams (F16) fourth, Philip Mumm/Rundell Curtis (I20) fifth and I (F16) was 6th. Four different boats won at least 1 race during the series of 7 races (good close racing). I'll post specifics later, when I get the results off to USSA for Portsmouth inclusion.
I did not sail Sunday as the buyer for my boat came by, saw the lack of wind and asked to just get back on the road early. USA712 now resides in Georgia, USA.
