Well, I'm thinking about restoring an old Newport Pacific catamaran.

This thing stem to stern is 18'6" and was a precursor to the modern trampoline and much lighter beach cat.

This boat has a hard deck rather than a trampoline.

The original sail is hashed and long gone. I think it got thrown away.

The original full battened main was 24' 10" tack to head and 10'11" tack to clew.

If I can't come up with a replacement at a reasonable price, I may entertain a more modern catamaran main with an 8'0" footed main and cut it down the sail's height.

This is an old "beater" but could be still lots of fun.
Last time I had this thing in the water was in Mexico tne years ago. I used it to beach camp and as a sailing dive platform for four divers, two tanks each and lunch.

Back then I cheated and put a 35 hp outboard on it for those times when the wind didn't blow.

Right now I have all winter to mess with it.

Any thoughts about where I might come up with a serviceable main and at what estimated price???

If I can't find one that's used and at a reasonable price...what do you guys think about using a more modern beachcat sail with a regular 96 inch foot. I might be able to cut the height down to match my boom to head dimension.

It that works OK I could cut the boom down.

Any body have any thoughts??
