I've got the old GPS replay from Velocitek that allows you to load in several GPS trails from different boats and replay races on the computer.
The software you talk about is called "GPS Action Replay", there are two versions: a free one (the one distributed by Velocitek) and a commercial one.
It's a really powerful piece of software, but the UI is awful...
