NOTICE OF RACE
2009 Slip to Ship Regatta – “BACK ON THE MAP”
May 23 & 24, 2009
ORGANIZING AUTHORITY: The Organizing Authority for this event is the Ocean Springs Yacht Club, Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

RULES: The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing(RRS), the prescriptions of US SAILING, pertinent Class/Fleet Rules, and this Notice of Race, except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions or by the Race Officials and posted in a timely manner.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY: This regatta is open to all multihull boats 16’ or larger. Eligible boats may be entered by completing an entry form and submitting it with entry fee to Ocean Springs Yacht Club. Early registration (on or before May 15, 2009!) is $60.00 for double handed (or greater), $50.00
Single handed. Late registration (after May 15, 2009) will be an additional $10.00.

OSYC Club members, 10% discount on entry fee.

EXPECTED CLASSES: The number of classes will be determined by the type and quantity of boats registered. In the race director’s discretion, a separate class may be assigned for any 5 competitors of the same class. At a minimum 4 classes will be assigned. Hobie 16, Open A, Open B, and Open Spin.

Friday, May 22 Registration (1600 to 1900)
Saturday, May 23 Late Registration (0800 to 0900)
Saturday, May 23 Skipper’s Meeting under the Pergola (0930)
Saturday May 23 Race 1 to Ship Island (1030ish)
Saturday May 23 Lunch on the island
Saturday May 23 Race 2 from Ship Island
Saturday May 23 Dinner in the club dining room (1800)
Sunday, May 24 Race 3 around Deer Island (1030ish)
Sunday, May 24 Award Ceremonies in the club dining room (1500ish)

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: The sailing instructions will be available during Check-In and at the Competitors’ Meeting; however they can be obtained on line along with the registration form at: www.osyc.com

COURSES: The courses will be as described in the Sailing Instructions.

SCORING: Low score score systems with no throw-outs. Competitors will be ranked by class or according to the most recent Portsmouth Rating System, as applicable. No wind adjustments will be made.

PENALTIES: This is a fun race. No protests will be considered. The “Honor System” applies. If you foul, you are required to perform a 360 (one tack, one jibe) as soon as practical.

PRIZES: Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place in each class, plus overall Winner. A
“Turtle” award will be presented recognizing the team that has the most trouble during the races. A perpetual trophy will debut this year which will chronicle the fastest adjusted time around Deer Island (race three).

LODGING: There are a numerous motels in the immediate area. Camping will be permitted on the south side of the pool area and pergola.
