WHAT A GREAT REGATTA! Daytona, summer, beach, catamarans! What's not to love? We had good weather. It started out a little light on Saturday, but built gradually to around 10. There was light surf, so no problems there. One of the I20s even powered through under spinnaker just to start the day off right!

The RC did a great job with organization and choosing good courses. They elected a pursuit format, starting the H16s first so that everyone finished close and the wait between races was not bad at all. It was a little hot so the wait gave time to do a little swiming and cool off.

They had dinner, al fresco, at the hotel Saturday night. This was just a few steps from the pool and bar. There was also plenty of beer! Limousine service, a tradition at this regatta, was available for the trip to the Ocean Deck. The service was free, all you needed to do was tip the driver.

Sunday started racing at 10:00. The wind was a little better than Saturday morning and (I think) we got in three races for a total of seven for the weekend.

Post race was my favorite part of this regatta. A big social around the pool, plenty of shade for those who'd had enough sun. Lots of dogs & brats for the truly famished and of course, BEER!

Oh, The Acapulco Resort is a nice, samller hotel. So that everything is right at your finger tips. Logistics for this regatta couldn't be simpler!

So, if you miss Daytona, you miss the essence of beach cat sailing!
