It's all about $$$$$$$. Why do you think Gates brings out a new version of Windows every few years and not just fixes the old one. Billions or new customers that why!!!!!
A better question is why people buy the new versions instead of switching to Mac (or Linux).
Intention behind SMOD is good, at least I think so, but it gets out of hand sometimes.
