do you want the ability to furl? this is a great feature to depower or beach the cat.. but if your primary purpose is racing.. i would think battens are desired.

Self tacking jibs i have seen have not had battens but they were furlable.

You can add small angled battens afterwords if needed


It might really be worth your while to talk with a sailmaker if possible, even better for him/her to see your rig
