Hoisting alone is no problem, I do it all the time. Pull the halyard from the slot that the sail attaches to the mast while standing right next to it. After you get the sail up you will have to pull it all through the bottom as if you had hoisted it regular but it is not that big a deal. You have to make sure you feed it through before you insert the bottom of the sail into the lower part of the track. I actually think this is an easier way to hoist the sail as you are pulling straight down not trying to pull the boat back while you are hoisting from the back beam.

If you do it this way you will be able to easily rotate the mast anyway you want. If if fails you right there to hoist and try again.
