2) I assume you have some home-made beachtrolley? I've used thick vinyl (3-4 mm). The hulls won't damage and won't easily slide, it's ok to get wet (and dry pretty quickly) when pushing the cat into the water, and very cheap if you only buy 1 meter or so.
