That is cool. I have designed and built my own boat so I know how much fun it is just to sail it.

While I was finishing the rig for my boat, I ran it with a laser rig. The mast step is very high torque. My first 2 maststeps failed. My 3rd was based on brute strenght and survived for a month. At winds above 15 kts it made very bad noises.

We looked at using a 10.5 meter sq wind surfing rig. My sailmaker thought the way to do it was to sew the shrouds and forstays to the sail sleeve. A simple test showed it would probably work. Then I was offered a broken A-Class mast and ....
