The most obvious place to sail in Houston is Galveston beach (on the gulf). I used to live in Houston from '79 to '88. Another place that rings a bell is Lake Conrad although I do not know the size of this lake or the distance from Houston. I know Galveston is about an hours drive. Let me know what you find out.
