I was asking the question to elicit more discussion on what Dave indicated: getting with your "group" and organizing which events to participate in.

If people go to a regatta, I would postulate most are there for the competition and the opportunity to improve their skills so that when they show up for their class worlds, NAs or whatever, they've got a better shot than they would have otherwise.

the distance/fun racing seems to have fallen out of favor somewhat, especially since there will always be a "rating beater" that will sweep the podium.

So, since we're trying to build skills and sail faster (why else would you spend so much cash and time getting a good boat and traveling?) why not just do what Ding said and hitch up to existing events and not worry about anything new?

And yes, I recall a slew of events that attendence has dwindled here in FL. MKL, Hogsbreath 100 (now Keys 100?), RTI Pensacola, Macho, even the Mug...
