The Lake Eustis Sailing Club Wildcat Regatta kicked off the Florida winter sailing season and the conditions did not disappoint. We had solid breeze Saturday at 12 - 18 knots and our PRO ran us hard all day knocking out 5 races. Even though the temp was in the upper 80's and water temp was warm half the fleet had hit the beach with the high performance boats taking the biggest hit. Sometimes you gotta make hay while the sun is shining.
Sunday picked up where Saturday left off at 12 - 15. We got two good races in before the wind began to shut down. It wouldn’t be the Wildcat regatta if we didn't get in at least one classic lake sailing race. The kind of race take makes you lose your mind with 50 degree shifts and falling in holes while your buddy 30 feet away sails by in their own private wind line only to do the same thing to them 10 minutes later.
