I personally owned a minimum weight Boyer and now own one of the oldest Fay boats.
For lightweight cat rig sailors I think the Boyer is about even but the majority still have older style centre boards and rudders which let them down.
By the time you factor in upgrades it makes more sense to get a winning boat like the "Young Mariner" which will still be worth the purchase price if you ever decide to sell.
I usually find rear beam slap slows you down and increasing bow volume in a Boyer could potentially make this worse and give you a slower boat..
