Heres a question thats is related to the S curve thread for all you technical guys. My clew plate has three holes I can use to shackle to the boom. I'll call them forward center and aft. I have always assumed the the forward hole is better for when it's blowing stink because it moves the load path between clew and head forward and allows the leach to open more easily. When I want a firm leach I use the aft hole. The difference is only a couple of inches so the effect could be all in my head. Is this the reason for the three holes? does it matter?

I'm off to the H17 Fall classic so I won't be able to check in for a while (27-H17's registered for a week of sailing and a great forecast:) Thanks for your comments.
