Hi Carl,

Maybe we could lower that minimum boat weight a touch, maybe to 375#s all up(nice number), leaving room for tweaking and experimenting.
The minimum crew weight seems a little high to me. If we are to implement a crew weight to spi size system, why not make the minimum crew weight 300#s and work from there. 325 is a lot of weight for many husband/wife teams.
The SA proposal sounds fine to me. Those numbers must include mast profile area.

I believe in simple rules:

LOA MAX 20.08' (to satisfy existing iF20 boats)
BOA MAX 8.5'
BW MIN 375 pounds
Crew MIN 300 pounds
SA MAX 210 square feet main(including mast)
" 55 square feet jib
" 270 square feet spi(w/EU style area adjustment)
Set Max Spi pole length = ?? I'll accept anything you guys decide on.

NO OTHER RULES

For example, no mast height restrictions just like the A-class.
No construction material restrictions at all. If some one wants to build a 375# all carbon boat(waste of time), then let them. As long as they make minimum weight, the advantage is insignificant.
If you want to use a Tornado mast(tapered) go right ahead. Same with H20 masts.

I would like to see more of a developmental class just like the A-class. This is the only way to not only to have fun racing but to improve boat speed on 20 foot catamarans. Maybe some day the minimum BW could be lowered to 325#s.

Just my ramblings...
