I want to buy a very used Hobie 16, there are several around my lake. I have looked closely at a couple. Seems they all have somewhat weak decks (they move up and down) foreward of the tramp posts. One even has cracks front to rear on the sides of the deck. I have heard this is a common problem, should I stay away from these boats or is there a quick/cheap/easy fix to strengthen the decks?

The asking price is only about $1,000 with trailer, they are 1979 vintage. Anyone got a better/newer H16 in Florida for about $1,000? I could go higher for a good boat but I don't need a racing boat, just a beater for the kids to learn on. (I would prefer a TheMightyHobie18 but I can't find any good boats cheap)
