It can get alot worse--I recall my early days of buoys racing and after a year or two finally leading the pack around the course for the first time , your excited and nervious which only increased as the race progressed, it was a 3 leg course. It was the last leg with a short hitch to the finish line and was already coveting the imaged trophy and first big WIN ,in rounding C mark I rounded up to weather nicely accelerated well and jumped out on the trap ,---unfortunately I had forgotten to hook in and just simply launched myself off the side .
" dohhh " I surfaced in time to see the boat racing away at a 45 degree hull flying angle with the crew hanging on the side for a hundred yards or so then flip .

The worst part was the entire fleet sailing by with numerous "helpfull" comments and I think one with a scorecard with a minus 9.5 for style points .

After that nothing too much bothers me while racing ,except boat parts failures or dismasting or seeing a large fin trailing behind , things like that .
