Some further notes/corrections on Bob's US A-CLASS UPDATE
Vectorworks Marine already manufactured a couple of BIM XJs. These boats have being testsailed since a while at factory in order to ascertain defects in construction/assembly. The production has started this week and the first two boats are scheduled to be delivered in the first week of December.
The new VMI XJs will incorporate all the features of the 2006 version of the Italian BIM XJ A-class:
canted -6" chord- daggerboards, new rudder blades, stiffer crossbars, new solid carbon reinforcements inside the hulls etc.
Further developments are expected to be introduced later:
both BIMARE and VMI are working on some top secret projects.
With regard to the rig, Charlie Ogletree and Pablo Soldano are experimenting a new main expecially suited for the RIBA/BIMARE section.
Finally at least 13 XJs (and perhaps up to 16) are expected to attend the Coconut Grove Classic
