At risk of being pegged as "positive" or "non positive," I can tell you that I read Steve's comments as follows:
First of all, when he said that the risk of going to the windward side of the capsized boat, that he probably meant to say the lee side of the boat.
Next, the reason that the tramp helped in pitching the boat was the amount of wind getting under-neath the tramps.
If you'd like to effect a cargo tramp, and you don't want to go "wall to wall tramp" as is the standard forward tramp, ...
... you might want to consider one of my two designes. Both of them have survived some increadible stresses in the Santa Barbara Channel to include "Windy Lane."
