You are on the right track, but there are many ways to do this.

http://www.funcat-sailing.de/Tornado/siteglas.htm I would have used a carabiner hook to secure a line to the jib. The other end of this line should be split in two, with a block in each end.
Depending on how much purchase you want, you start threading the sheet from the block on the jib or the block on the trampoline. Thread the sheet so it is continous, not split like on the images.
You must post a report on the project and how the boat handles when you start sailing it!
