Fantastic weekend at Rehoboth
If you stayed home thinking it was going to rain all weekend you made a big mistake. RBSA hosted the Delaware State Hobie Champs last weekend and the sailing was fantastic. We had 17 boats in the Hobie 16 fleet and the competition was tight with the addition of Hess and Montague from the west coast. Saturday was sunny with wind from the east to southeast at 10 to 15 knots. We had five races with each race win going to a different boat. Race winners were Wally and Janet Payne, Liza and I, Jeffers and Grisko, and Mcveigh and Fisher (I think I got that right)
Sunday started out fogy but it cleared with about 20 knots from the east. We got three more races in and the South African expatriate Mark Moderman sailing with Mike Kast gave us all a clinic in big breeze sailing. They won all three races on Sunday to win the event with 17 points. Liza and I were second with 19. Mcveigh and Fisher tied with Montague for third (and won the tiebreaker) with 20 points.
Thanks for another great event RBSA.
