I also use a 6:1 ratio block system off the traveller with a cleat running off the bottom tripple block ratchet. This cleans up the trampoline for clutter free space and no extra fittings/weight.

Did you check out the Sth African Mozzies on the Rudder topic with the boom mounting ? It looks like they spread the boom loading and use a smaller diameter (lighter) boom. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
