We just had our first Hobie Regatta for the year, Splash Regatta in Kirkland. Good turn out and great support from the City of Kirkland, WA, Hobie Cats, Hobie Cats Northwest, Murrays. We moved from Sand Point in Seattle, our traditional site for over 25 years, three years ago. Seattle was charging us too much money. Kirkland provides the beach, free parking for cars, trailers, and mobile homes all at no charge. In return, we have a free Fast and Fun event for them, using the five Hobie Waves from Sail Sand Point in Seattle, and with kayaks provided by Hobie Cats Northwest and Hobie Cats Co, on the Opening Day of the Boating season.

The dinner on Saturday, was in the Heritage House, local Kirkland landmark, rented at a very reasonable fee. We were treated to Choppino, Doug Skidmore's special recipe, prepared by Hobie Volunteers and Sailors. The traditional raffle, with donations from all of the above mentioned Companys was a big hit, with a lot of good items.

And there was a regatta. Nine races in cold wet, but windy, at least today, weather. Well run event with excellent race management, and good crash and mark boat support.

Grandson, Dan, scored his first win in the Wave Class, he was fourth last year. Son Tom tied with Grandpa in the middle of the H-17 fleet, but won out on the tie breaker.

Just waiting for the Advil to kick in.
