Partly cloudy scattered rain showers, no thunder and lightning. Wind 10-15+ on Saturday, quite a bit lighter on Sunday.
Crew was great! Always smiling, never complains. Can't get enough time on the water!
Only 4 F16s.
What a party. The most fun I've had in a long time. Most of us went to the "Ocean Deck" Saturday Night and had a good time. Hot dogs and lots of suds on Sunday after the race.
Surf was a little rough, with not much wind, so I wimped out on Sunday. For me, I made the right decision. Half the fleet zipped right off the beach, some had more trouble.
Mary got a surfing lesson from Mavis on Sunday morning, and crewed for Chuck during the race. I hung out and took my time rigging down.
Saturday the surf was up as well but the winds were higher, say 10-15 sustained. The learning process continues. Didn't flip, didn't break anything.
Great bunch of folks at Daytona! Very friendly party oriented crowd.
As you know, this is my first experience with spinnaker. Well, Saturday afternoon the waves started building until we had a few decent sized waves. So, we're zipping along under spinnaker, surfing a good sized wave and I noticed, it's a long way down! And the speed isn't bad either! No big deal for you guys that sail in the ocean, but I rarely see anything over a 1'. It was the first time I was able to surf under spinnaker, to me, it was exciting.
