I have found that using a long, skinny stick that does not adjust, like you see on most A cats, saves me from having to mess with the adjustable stick, and it's quite a bit lighter too. Yes, it is long and you have to learn how to throw it about when tacking but once you get used to it you will never capsize while messing with the locking mechanism! I think in the end, less is more.
