Mike I had to make a similar repair to mine and except for the difference in color you can not feel mine. The answer my friend is Sand, Sand Sand (carefully) a good palm sander is a help-- start with 100 grit and finish with 600 - 800 wet sanding. if you sand it flat and discover that there is not enough gel coat to cover the spot then you can either cut a hole or build up the gel coat and live with it. (tough love on a new boat.) call me.
