The cause of the problem was that the seal at the top of the mast failed completely.

From what it looked like, there was some foam there to start with and then additionally whay tooked like bath tub sealent" on top of that; the boam had fallen down (or maybe been partly disolved by the sealent) and the sealent also did not seal.

John just put a load of epoxy foam in and we then taped it up for the night. Job done I hope.
