Hi All

Although I'm not involved with the running of this event, I've been going to it for 33 years without missing a year, and I'm only 32 (I was there a week before I was born).

Under normal conditions this regatta would be held at Lake Bolac, Vic. but due to the drought, the last few years has seen it held at Lake Bulleen Merri, near Camperdown, Vic.

Although it hasnt seen the success of numbers which were at Lake Bolac, it would be good alternative within about 2.5 hours from Melbourne. There is camping on the lawns, right on the shoreline, and only I think $10 for the entire easter weekend.

There will be some Mosquitos, Taipans and possibly a few A Classes from Colac at the event, and is open to all classes, with junior divisions, monos, cats and trailables.

Hope to see some of you there.

Regards

Hi All

Well I was wrong as I arrived at Lake Bullen Merri, I couldn't quite believe what I saw. The regatta was the most successful since the move from Lake Bolac.

I think around 6 mosquitos showed including one with spinnaker, classes of A's, Taipans, Cobra (State Titles) and Dolphin (State Titles) and an assortment of misc cats and around 30-40 monos.

Some light winds hampered Saturday and Sunday afternoon, but overall was a fantastic turn out, with many very happy with the location and camping with green soft lawns all the way to the waters edge.

The water is incredibly deep, requiring quite a few additions to buoy anchor lines to hit the bottom, and those with unsealed masts soon had centreboards pointing the wrong way.

Regards
