Is there somebody who is very handy with a CAD program that would like to help us out ?

I would like to get a 3-D image of the design so far and see if we can improve on the styling here and there. However, I'm not to handy with these software packages. I hear Rhino CAD 3 is free to use by amateurs.

Anybody would like to help us here ?

Wouter

If you just want to mess around a little you can download Freeship, it is a 3-d program that with about four hours work I was able to draft up the hulls to my 5.2 on and have messed around with the F-16 idea that I have.

In all my years of doing volunteer work I've learned that there is no such thing as "help offered to late"

You are very welcome to the project and I'm sure you bring with you skills that were not present in the project yet. You are mr. Roake right ?

What would you feel confortable in doing ?

How can be best make use of yours skills ?

Regards,

Wouter

I have been doing the work so far, But I am more than happy for someone else to help or take over. Up to now the boat has been modelled using Pro-Engineer. And 3D models have been exchanged and viewed using edrawings. What Software do you use? I have to say your renderings seem to be of a better quality than I usually produce.

Wouter,
can do most anything really, have just about all of the best software and about 30 years of playing with various variants there of. That said Im not looking to design a boat for F12 from the ground up, but I am happy to generate cad drawings of a general nature or explore ideas that help so long as your not looking for a full CFD or FEA for example.....basically, ask, if I have the time available and the capability, I'll help out.

have Catia and Rhino, but I prefer Rhino for most things except mechanical/structural stuff where I use Ansys

I understand.

I think it is time to formalize the cooperation a bit as we are now attracting 7 additional volunteers to a project that basically was a one man job till recently.

Personally I'm not looking for help in designing the F12 from the ground up. I feel the design has progressed pretty far already. We are now in the fine-tuning stage, shortly afterwards we'll be going to prototyping.

I feel that this suits your take on things perfectly. At this time I'm lacking the time and resources to present the design to the world and pictures are so much more valued then words and tables of numbers. I'm looking mostly for help in this area.

The other area's were help will be welcomed in the future are forming local group of enthousiast building the boat and local classes. Some of the bugs in sail design will need to be taken out by them. I think that I have a basic sail design that is good enough start but as we find out the specifics in behaviour of the F12 we'll need to optimize the rig further before it's dimensions and cut are set in stone.

So if any volunteers are interested in helping out there then they are welcomed as well.

Pretty exiting this actually. I would love to own a F12 myself. It also seems such a good craft for a quick 60 minutes of sailing on a lazy summer evening.
