Bad news to report but maybe some Florida area sailors can keep an eye out for me. This evening I went to my boat which is stored at the Davis Island Yacht Club in Tampa to put the mast back up in preparation for some upcoming club races and discovered that my mainsheet (green) an blocks, bridle wires, and both rudders and tiller assemblies were stolen from my I-20. The parts were on the trampoline but under a cover in a locked yard. The thieves left behind the boom, spinnaker pole assembly, spin sheets, tiller cross bar, and tiller extension. Fortunately all sails and the daggerboards were not on the boat. If anyone should see these parts for sale anywhere, please let me know. I have informed the police and my insurance co. Hopefully if the parts are not recovered, the insurance co. will come through.

That sucks... gonna end up on ebay labelled as "catamaran rudders" without any mention of type or anything else...

Anything special about the mainsheet, like what kind of blocks, 8-1, 10-1. I doubt they will show up around here but will keep an eye out.

Have Fun

I'll look for yours, you watch out for my 8:1 blocks with yellow Dynnema tapered mainsheet. They were stolen off my boat last August. I still am thinking local, to fix up some old clunker, but maybe there is a market out there we are unaware of.

I don't have a lot of spare money for boats.
I have gone from a $250 PT to three well outfitted cats in four years.
Made a little selling on after fix ups etc and always finding excellent 2nd hand gear and our equivilent of ebay.
I can see easily someone with a cat who cannot afford it who has loose morals deciding that free is good.
8.1 and tapered...$700 here...like a shiney coin to a magpie...irresistable.
I never leave that sort of kit with my boat. It takles a little longer to put together but when I take it home it gets rinced and hung up.

Whoever and whyever, how good would it be to deliver him or her a rough slap in the ear.

I'd rather give them a swift kick to the nuts...

I sense the dark side is strong in this one.

My preference is a punch to the throat or a kick to the junk.

Police here would not even turn up for something that small. MIght drive by after a few days and "note' it.
We are only talking a "slap". not cutting the perps hand off or anything.
I had an after market amp stolen from my car years ago. Wasn't noted on insurance so could not claim and police did nothing. I'd still like to find that rat and....I had to clean up the glass and replace the window...just one good slap.

Put some screen wire hooked up to a electric fence transformer under boat. &(*&(* should get a good hit next time he tries to steel something.

Dammit!
sons a bitches! I always leave my stuff over night with the boat and have never had a problem yet. I guess I'll have to make a rigging duffel to carry all of the removable rigging in. Sorry Bro, if he is found we should drag him behind a truck.........

stealing is evil, but there is a philosophy that recomends non-violence and compasion. under that philosophy you would be compasionate towards the thief and try to understand a lesson that may be learned from the evil act.
not only that a positive view point is generally healthier and the parts may come back to you somehow.

When I left my boat on a public beach in Navarre I had a term for the things I needed to take with me "easily removable, high expense" items. But that was a public beach... yachta clubs are a different story.

Wow..evil is a bit big for theft of small items, maybe naughty fits easier. It's just taking things that don't belong to you. A slap in the ear is not evil either....just a suggestion not to do it again....and a bit naughty.
But I'll go out to the gate and see if my stolen amp has been dropped off yet.
: )...................... .... ......... ..
nope, I'll try again in the morning.

Jolly'''

The Kung fu Master taught the student to snatch the pebbles from his hand, not to snatch the rudders from the cat!
