Alan is an engineer at Mona Vale. He co-designed designed, built and sails a foiling moth. He told me he knows of a F16 being buit in QLD.
A lot of passhionate sailors work here, I love picking the engineers brains, especially for my next project, my carbon mast and carbon rigging.

I had a 6 week break after I got sick of fairing. It was a very busy time of the year for work and my family life.
I soon learnt that extra time in the application of the fairing compound made a huge difference in the sanding hours. I basically applied it unevenly, and hit glass before I had sanded out all the high spots. This left me with low spots to fill again and again.
Don't skimp, it would have been a lot easier to put way too much on the 1st time. But is faired now and I’m happy with it. I have just added some re-enforcement around the front bridals the other day. I have filled the holes that are left after screwing things together.
And each hull still weighs less than 23kgs.
The decks are ready for the deck any day now.
I have been acquiring the products to make my boom and tiller bits.
I have been speaking to the engineers regarding the carbon rigging and the carbon mast. I think I know how to make the carbon rigging work, although I still haven’t done any testing.
As for the mast that project. I have their support and knowledge.
It is pointless posting photos at the moment, because 002 don’t look much different.
It is obvious that I’m running behind schedule (again) but I will be on the water this summer.

Unregistered | Hi Tony,
look forward to seeing you on the water, I am loving the Blade <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.
Hurry up, I am sure it will exceed your expectations <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />. Don't worry I know how long fairing takes, you should try a 26 foot cat <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />. | | | Re: Blade 002

Posts: 461 Victoria, Oztralia | Thats the go. I've been a good boy and every night this week been putting in a couple of hours, and just come in from the same.
I totally know where your coming from, my biggest mistake was checking often enough the fairness when putting it together intially, not that theres any major bumps or hollows, but I still think I could have spent a bit more time keeping a check on things. I will take more care with my next boat.
But, in saying all that, I am almost ready for the top coats, that my better half picked up today from Dulux, which will hopefully be on this weekend (but definately by next weekend). I've been over it with wet n dry a few times with 240 and have got a couple more with 400.
I wish I had a more accurate set of scales at home to way them, I made a little cradle that sits on the bathroom scales, I've been meaning to weigh them for a while, as the last time was pre-deck I think.
I'll wait til then for photos as well, if I take them now, it will remind me that I'm dragging the chain, again.
Regards
Matt Harper
