I will tell him and pass on your email. This thing is his baby so while an "alternitive" kind of guy, you may find him informative.

And yes, I am gutted for him. He has been very phylisophical about it cause I would just throw the rest of the toys. It is just awful to see someones dream hit like that. He uses it trans ocean regularly so you can imagine ringing the Insurance company and say I would like to insure a...........

I think I read about that cat in "Multihulls", designed as a commuter for an island operation? It's always sad to see such breakage! Will it be rebuildt?

I came across this C-cat picture again today, of the british C-class Invictus:

Did they really sail with wooden rudders? Anybody who knows more about those rudders? Hollow construction perhaps, and how would you go about doing that with internal shear webs etc.?

Yes, he had it made for his black pearl operation in Tahiti.
He had just rebuilt the wing in 3mlfoam and carbon. He had been caught last year in a big storm on an ocean crossing and his motor siezed. He had a 350 horse diesel turbo in it. The wing finds it own position as to how it is tuned. He over tuned the wing and it stared to sail backwards which ripped the rudders off....! : (
10 metre waves, 60 knot winds, no rudders and a giant wing on the loose!
So he had sailed it out here with his brand new wing and wham, bam, thank you mam into a 150 year storm!
