PTP-
I will try to explain the down haul--as my camera and computer don't like each other right now so I can't take a photo.
The down haul line coming from the bottom of the mast comes up through the block and has a hook on the end to hook into the tab at the bottom of the mast--where you have the short piece of blue spectra tied. On the top of the block we put a hook to hook into the grommet in the sail---where you have the block tied onto the sail.
So when sent up the down haul comes up one side of the boom, the hook on the block hooks into the grommet of the sail and the down haul line comes down the opposite side of the boom and hooks into the tongue at the bottom of mast.
Hope that makes sense??!! I like Wouter's idea of posting ideas on the F16 site---but our photos will have to wait. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Joanna,
That is a good setup you explained. I will probably change to the hook on the sail but just tie the spectra to the eye on the mast. Might need a slight tug to get the sail down to the downhaul when setting up but I think even I didn't I would have enough play on the downhaul.
BTW... we talked about this in a previous thread- I looked up the base of my mast when I took it off the boat (hanging from my garage now) and I don't think the internal part of the downhaul is 6:1... I think it is 4:1 then doubles with the block on the sail. Seems this si fine with the Glaser main but needs more maybe with the Ullman.

That sounds like my Mk-3 snuffer. We secured the bag by tightening the bag around a moulded flange. No problems with the bag..
I think you might get more friction by running the bag over the snuffers mouth. Friction is bad, something to consider.

Not necessary, depends highly on fabric vs ring material friction differences assuming that mouth of the bag doesn't collapse. I believe that I got good fabric with very little friction.

Anyways some snuffer ring pics that were promised:

Don't look up the mast to see whether it is 6:1 or 4:1 but rather measure the distances both lines coming out of the mast travel relative to eachother. Then you know for certain. Most Blades should have 12:1 though. Your is one of the very first batch so maybe you have 8:1 instead, but later models ...

I know the Alter Cup Blades are 12:1---and being a 255lb team we need all we can get. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
