Kirt the picture was larger than 100.000 bytes ; it was 98 Kb

but ofcourse 1 kb = 1024 bytes and not 1000 bytes.

Click attachment on the left and guess how much this board weights.

Kirt,

If you do not mind, weight your items,...especially your daggarboards...

I follow the T 4.9 UNI site and study the tips that are there,.....I know that the particulars are T 4.9 specific but the priciples can be general to Uni rig catamarans,....

....for example,...certian Aussie Uni-sailors rig their mainsheet systems 'upside-down'...this season I am turning my mainsheet system ' upside down',...cleat at the top,......from a physics point of view,.....it SHOULD work better for your initial thrust is on the item ( the boom) you want to move,...

...and the initial relase is on the same item ( the boom),...

....face it,..that crossbar is never going to move,...well,..hopefully (..if it does,.then you are in real trouble..)

T4.9 daggerboards = just over 2 kg's / peice ;something like 2,1 kg's (about 4,5 lbs / peice)

Rudders about 1 kg / peice = about 2,25 lbs

Stocks about 400 grams = 0,4 kg = about 0,9 lbs.

I calculated crossbar at 750 grams = 0,750 kg = about 1,65 lbs

Complete rudder setup inc. crossbar = 3,5 to 3,75 kg's = about 8 lbs.

Kirt if you start measuring anyway can you also measure mast tip weight of a fully rigged mast exclusing halyards and the side/fore stay ? I already knows phill measurement but I need to have three sample to calculate the average it is impotant in our F16 evaluation proces. Thanks.

Mast tip wieght is defined at the weight felt at the hoist height of your mainsail (Just below the Hook) when the mast is perfectly horinzontal and supported on the very edge of its its base.

Thanks,......5 pound daggarboard huh............see, right there ( pair d-board T 4.9 vs pair of D-board I-17) is a 30 pound delta,........or almost 9% of the I-17 total weight..

thanks again,

Bruce
