We had our committe meeting last night, and discussed the topics mentioned above.
Our aim is to get as many boats on the water as possible, and we would certainly encourage any interstate boats interested in sailing to come over.
The view coming out of the meeting last night, is that provided you are a member of an affiliated mosquito state association, then you are eligible to compete. You do not need to join the MCASA.
The cost is $10 per race sailed.
On the matter of the age limit, this remains. We feel that due to the conditions that we sail in, we must demonstrate a duty of care. If your crew is underage, all they require is a TL1 or equivalent, which is just a basic skills certificate. I am told it is easy to get.
Might I also add that it was only by chance that I read this post, and that no one on the committe was aware of what was being discussed. Can I suggest that if you have any questions or concerns that you submit it to the association. This way there will be no "hear say" and hopefully get an answer in a quicker time frame.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,

Simon, the email I sent 8 days ago is below along with your reply, I talked to Phil also on Saturday about this and posted the info he gave me. Welcome to the forum. Darryn 1782 ------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Simon, some interest from Interstate sailors in our states. How can they enter if they aren’t members of Sa Mozzy association? Seems like a waste of money for them to join our association and then pay for the states if they are already a member of Vic or NSW. I only had to pay for the states when I sailed in the Vic states, what do you think? http://www.catsailor.com/forums/showflat...SID=#Post123583The link to the thread on catsailor, Darryn ------------------------------------------------------------ From Simon Hallsworth Subject Re: Sa States Wed 7/11 Hi Darryn, Will bring it up at the meeting next week. Cheers, Simon Catch ya Sat - 1.30 start.

Posts: 135 Bendigo, Victoria, Australia | G'day Simon,
Thank you for the information.
My crew has done a bunk and will not be coming anyway so the age issue is not a problem.
I chose the Mozzie Forum to ask these question rather than direct contact because I may not be the only person with these questions and in the forum all can read the information. I also feel this is the most appropriate medium for these types of discussions. However I did not count on the fact that the S.A. Mozzie Association commitee members did not know of the existance of the forum.
Oh well, Glad I could make the introduction.

Yep, good result. Now lets get on with what all this is about: SAILING.
The leave roster is not out for next year yet, You know how it works. The chances of getting the leave you request is inversely proportional to the amount of pressure you put on your supervisor.
If I don't get leave, I'll arrange a couple of days off and drop in for a visit. Look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you for the "loan" of your crew on the weekend. I think she enjoyed the weekend's sailing, I certainly did.
We had 4 Victorian invaders at the South Australian States. Gary J & Tim from Lake Boga and Peter N from Loch Sport sailing cat and myself sailing sloop.
On speaking to them, they all enjoyed the weekend. Thanks to the S.A.'s for letting us come and play.
Competition was good and racing close on the weekend with the front positions in both Cats and Sloops changing race to race. Wind for the racing was up to about 12 knots and varying in direction but mostly from the southerly directions.
I don't have the official results but on dead reckoning I believe that Beau is leading the Cats and Peter D is leading the Sloops after the weekend's racing. As for other positions I wouldn't have a clue.
Thank's to Lake Bonney for their hosipitality and another great weekend. Well done guys.

Posts: 502 Port Noarlunga, SA, Australia | Overall the results I remember were,
Mk1's
Me, Beau Delaine Mark Pfennig
Mk2s
Simon Hallsworth and Sarah Martin
The other Mk2 positions I am not entirely sure of so I will wait until they appear online.
We had 10 to 15 knots with a moderate waves on Saturday, two 60 minute races back to back. A good feature of the course was the gybe mark position making for a fast second reach with bearaways down some big waves, everyone I spoke to after the race mentioned the screaming reach.
Sunday we had 15 to 20knots with the waves at around 2 metres, unfortunately the beach break was a killer and Steve Thomas on Just do It was hit by another boat in the surf and sustained considerable damage ending his day on the water. Out on the course the crashes continued with Beau and myself having a low speed prestart crunch but not enough damage to stop us racing. I got away a bit at the start and managed to hold that lead to the finish. The second reach was very quick again with the bigger waves making it even better, watching how hard Beau pushed his boat on those reaches was impressive and he finished second with Mark Pfennig third.
Victor Harbour Yacht Club again showed they know how to set a cat course that takes full advantage of their wild patch of water and it was obvious after racing that the Mozzy sailors had enjoyed it.

Looks like Simon finally got the conditions he liked on the Sunday and looks like most had a great ride throughout the weekend. Disappointed I missed it.
Looking forward seeing the results.
