Interesting.
I never broken board even on the 18teen with 3 guys out on wings.. So I wonder what is wrong with the standard cat board layup..

I broke two brand-new 5.8 daggerboards a couple of years ago. But that was a production problem - Someone made up a batch of boards with the wrong lay-up and two of them made it out the door to me before anyone found out. As soon as they found out, Performance Cats sent me two replacements at no charge.

I just thought it would be neat looking. But they would sink faster than you could say "oops". Not very practical in pricing either. I'm sure you'd have close to a grand into it all said and done. The material actually might end up being the cheapest part too.

Hey if one believes the floating plate creates some increase flotation then the placebo effect may rub off and you sail faster!!

(its a good theory)
