Got bumped by a J/24 in the yard last weekend, could have come out worse:

and

But between this being a fairly new boat, a nasty rumor I heard about Infusion bows being sensitive to bangage, and having done nothing but flat side repairs, I thought I'd ask.

Hull doesn't appear compromised, it looks like there's a layer of microballoons or something between the leading edge and the glass. Any thoughts on this? I've got a race coming up in a couple weeks, but would like to get this repair correctly rather than quick.

Thanks for your help,

DH

It looks like just a cosmetic issue. I would use a dremmel to remove any loose bits and prepare the area properly then simply wrap a bit of packing tape under the area so it holds the gelcoat in place and fill the area. it might take a couple of sessions but it will look as new if you take the time to do it right.

Macca is exactly right. Though I would use Waxed paper instead. The sticky side of the packing tape seems to interfere with the setting of the resin.

If you use gelcoat make sure you know how much catalyst you have to add to it...quite a bit more than raw resin.
