Posts: 1,187 38.912, -95.37 | I know there is alot of Hobie people that would be interested in an F16. By the time I get burned out trying to build the FXone class maybe it'll happen....
Before you say just buy a different brand, for many of us Hobie has the only regatta's around.
I also agree that HCE will probably be the ones to do it. Hobie US is doing pretty well with the rotomoulded boats. So why change. But...the other major manufacturer has not been mentioned. Closer to your area Karl, NACRA has the only regatta around...the CRAW and CRAM organizations. Your only likely to see F16 sprout from these ranks (and possibly a NACRA F16?). I don't think the Hobie sailors will be able to splinter off, start, support and/or sustain themselves.

CRAW is all open class/handicap, and most of it is far far away in Eastern Wi. I don't like going that deep in cheese country. There's already a few F16's in CRAW, I think they're both Vectorworks boats. One of them used to post on here on a regular bases. MarkMT I believe. Moving for me is easy, moving my failing cabinet business, and a girlfriend that is attached at the hip with her parents is a challenge. | | | Re: Kris, Nacra F16?

Posts: 329 Chicago, Illinois USA | There are four of us planning on racing F16 CRAW/CRAM Regattas this year. The Chicago area mini-fleet! All Blades.

Come on dude...looking at their (CRAW) schedule, if you can drive to my house (twice, 7.5 hours), or Lake McConaughy (10 hours) you can drive to Shell Lake for the WI/ MN Challenge, or Green Bay's only 6 hours

For being in the middle of asspunch nowhere, that place is beach cat heaven. But 700+ miles is too far, being I'll be going to Calamus I don't think I'll be driving to damn near colorado just to take 2nd in the distance race behind Kruger's again. I did shell lake last year, (MN won btw thanks in part to Volkman), that was a nice lake too. I could see the rock pile that I smashed a board into perfectly! The next closest event is Lake Petenwell, which I crewed at on an Infusion last year. Glad I didn't bring my boat, that lake was just nasty. Besides John, if I didn't go to your regatta for the last two years, or plan on towing ten boats to it this year, how could I possibly in good consience hold the fact you won't come to mine over your head? *nudge* *nudge* | | |
