When you strip the outer sheath off a portion of the spin halyard, how do you stitch it back to the core?

Anybody have a "how to sew" link?

It's called a lock stitch...but you have to do some more work before you can put the stitching in...more information and techniques here:

Pete, I think you bury the cover into the core to make it smooth. Look at the 12 strand end for end splice in the above link. It is something like that but you only have to bury the cover because the core is already in the cover.

to add to that - for double braids (lines with a core inside an outer woven sheath) with high strength cores (spectra, technora, vectran, etc.) you want the "Striping Cover Class 2, Double Braid Ropes.pdf"

you don't actually have to do a lock stitch when you do a taper IMO

I made a new spin halyard a couple of months ago and I really like it. It is 5mm swiftcord and 1/8 amsteel. I used the end for end spice in the link. It took me a few hours to figure out how to do it and to make a fid.
