I love hanging out with the Delray guys but I do not live in Delray and am not a member (although Chip and Bob gave me an honorary membership one year). Also the locals did not like it when the race was part of the series. They felt like it was not their race anymore.

I do not live in Briny Breezes but keep my boat there frequently. I also started leaving my boat on Singer Island before I even lived there. I lived in hotels with no fixed address but my boat (it was actually my brothers boat) had a home. The key is to get to know the locals and they will tell you what you can or can't do. Also make friends with the beach bums. They make good 24 hour security if you let them sleep under your boat.

One of the local Briny Breezes residents wants a race there so we are planning one from Briny Breezes through the Palm Beach Inlet circumnavigate Peanut Island and back to Briny Breezes. The resident wants to put $1,000 toward the purse and the entries will be put toward the party with a band at the end.

Of course the Delray guys will get the first invites.

Hi, My wife and I are planning to come to Florida in the winter from New Mexico with our F-16 and truck camper. Is there an ideal place to camp and launch from the beach on the Atlantic side in Florida? Thanks Andrew

what part of the Eastern Florida coast? It is a big coast.

We were thinking ofthe Delray area? Or further south and even the Keys wanting to explore. My wife likes the idea of sailing to a place for lunch and back and warm water with a nice breeze 10-15 knots. Does it exist? Who wants to go? Andrew

Key West:Boyds Campgound in Key West has a couple of spots you could use your camper and pull your boat up next to it.

Delray Beach:
There is no camping anywhere around Delray Beach.

West Palm Beach:
Peanut Island is just inside the Palm Beach Inlet and allows tent camping. There is no bridge to the island so you have to launch from Phil Foster Park which is only about 100 yards from the island. Phil Foster park has an area to launch non Motorized vessels (catamarans). There is good sailing in the lake/Intercostal waterway or you could just go out the inlet to get in the Atlantic. There are a few Tiki Bars along the coast (Singer Island). There are showers on Peanut Island and they offer both reserved camping (Small Fee) or "primitive camping" (free). You can pull your sailboat right up to the tent in the primitive camping but not the reserved camping. There is also a water taxi that makes regular stops on the island.

Binga, bring your F16 to Kelly Park next winter, just east of Orlando, near Cocoa Beach but on the Intercoastal. I believe you can camp there, and sail down the intercoastal. Schedule your trip for one of the many regattas held there for more fun. As far as just rolling up on any of the Atlantic beaches and camping for the night, probably not going to be allowed by the local authorities. Else the place would be crawling with deadbeats by now. Not that you are a deadbeat, of course not, just that that's why no town allows it. Find some campgrounds near the beach. The cops patrol the beaches on 4 wheelers after dark, and will throw you out when they find you.

That's the funny part of this, the cop who made the complaint. Why the hell is he complaining about anything. The sheriff's dept works for the city. The city tells them how to operate. The problem is one or two of the condo dwellers, P.W.T.D.'s ( people waiting to die) who think they own the beach. They had a meeting down there where the deputy solicited complaints. Quoting the sheriff " If no one complains then he can't do anything"
This is another good one. One of these pwtd's suggested that the cat's could be used to sail down a quarter mile to the condo's and commit crime. That's why they should be gone. Frickin bunch of Einsteins. Where do we get people like this? from up north . They come down here and then want to change it into the crap hole they left.
