And the code zero's were a huge disaster at the last olympics. The team using one got killed by the normal spinnakers in the Tornado class.
It appears that it is a specialized sail for a limited set of conditions with an overall performance below that of a regular spinnaker.
This might be true for a code 0, but no for the sail Oxo offers. Simon explained the difference. This sail is more like what you can see in the Ishares cup. It is the opposite of an specialized sail. We sail it up to 20kts. In light winds we can use it on a run. It is a bit smaller than a spi. I don't need to send my crew to the front (or myself) in big winds, just pull the strings. We can set it much faster and take it down a bit faster than any spi. We never have a 8 in it. It is dry after sailing. It is rigged in seconds. It needs no force to set it. We never run over it. Might be that a good crew good use the spi for more speed, we are just week-end sailors.
For us, it is the perfect all around sail.
This time a statement from someone who sails the sail on the water for over one year.
Cheers,
Klaus
